How the matcher works
The matcher uses a small set of editorial profiles: your main interest counts most, followed by visit length and preferred connection. Selecting fewer hills reduces the score of areas with steeper approaches. Results are suggestions based on those preferences, not hotel ratings, measured popularity or live transport data.
Terrain varies within every area. A preference for fewer steep approaches does not establish a step-free route; check the final walk and building access for your actual address. The comparison includes Cihangir and Nişantaşı as additional options beyond the four areas in our first place collection.
Which area is best for a first visit?
Sultanahmet is a useful starting point for a short trip focused on the Historic Peninsula’s major monuments. Karaköy/Galata suits a mix of interests. The best fit depends on where you plan to spend your days.
Is Kadıköy a practical base?
It can be a good fit for food, cultural stops and neighborhood time on the Asian side. If most of your sightseeing is on the Historic Peninsula, allow for cross-city connections and check the actual ferry or transport route.
Will the matcher recommend a hotel?
It compares areas only. Use the neighborhood guide to narrow your search, then verify an individual accommodation’s location, access and facilities.
